Joan Costa was trained as a ceramist at the School of Applied Arts and Artistic Trades of Palma, and widens his studies in Siena, at the Academy of Fine Arts of Carrara, where he specializes in sculpture. He is an expert in the use of the marble he discovered in Carrara. He also uses other noble materials such as bronze, aluminium and steel or wood, while exploring the possibilities of casting. Hr is strongly influenced by the Talayotic culture of Menorca, of nature, the sea and the coast. The Mediterranean is his inspiration source and often denounces, through his work, the irreversibility of the destruction of the planet.
